  you know that actress Barbara Mori was struck by cancer? But this Mexican beauty was fortunate enough to survive it as the disease was diagnosed in its early stages.

Kites Director Anurag Basu and Barbara Mori are both cancer survivors, and bonded over that big time on the sets of Kites. About which Barbara has shared in Namrata Singh Gujral’s docu-drama titled 1 a Minute, to release in 2010.
Barbara Mori beat cancer only because of her strong will to survive and because she believes she still has a lot to give to this world.

Roshan , Barbara Mori arrived in London !

The Roshan family and Barbara Mori arrived in London from New York for the British premiere of Hrithik’s latest movie.
The evening premiere was held in Leicester Square and was attended by the likes of Lakshmi and Usha Mittal, Gurinder Chadha, director Anurag Basu, Brett Ratner and Prasoon Joshi among others.
The entire Roshan family was in attendance as were members of Sussanne’s family including her dad Sanjay Khan.

Even as Bollywood fans gathered from across the city to cheer for the lead pair, there was an after party following the screening that was attended by the likes of Rishi Kapoor and Niki Aneja.

Hrithik Roshan is all set to fly Kites with Mexican belle Barbara Mori and desi girl Kangana Ranaut. The actor in conversation with TWF correspondent Sreya Basu.
You have always been experimenting with your roles, especially in your home productions…
I tell you, it’s not easy to make or be part of a film that’s breaking all barriers. But that’s what my father (Rakesh Roshan) and
I have been consciously doing for the past few years. And they all turned to be major blockbusters not just in India but across the world. I played a superhero (in Krissh), a mentally-challenged youth (in Koi Mil Gaya). Initially both the roles were laughed at because in India people think that a hero is all about an image and he should not break away from it. But as an actor, I think it’s my duty and inherent strive to evolve and find out what else is there.

Is this the reason why you take such long gaps between your films…because you are choosy?
I don’t know what to say-whether I do less films because I choose to do less films, or I don’t have time to do more films. I would actually want to do more films. But I need time to absorb, get into my character…I get too involved, may be I have my own apprehensions. That’s the way I am built I guess; so even if I want to do 10 films a year, I won’t have the capacity to do them.
Was it a conscious decision to make the film in English?
It was not a conscious decision to make the film in English language. But there was an instinct, a feeling in all our hearts that something needs to be done over the project. And then, one thing led to the other….and one fine day Kites became a global, cross-cultural, Mexican-Spanish-Indian-English film. By the way, the international version of the film has less Hindi, but the Indian version has a lot of the language.
So, in which language you shot the film?
We shot the film in English.
Do you expect Kites to break Box Office records of Koi Mil Gaya and Krissh?
It doesn’t matter what I expect or want of Kites. All I can say is that it’s a beautiful film and am really proud of it. Every person who watches this film will take back home some emotions, asBarbara keeps saying it will make them fall in love all over again.
Why is that we are not seeing Kangana Ranaut in the promos and posters of Kites?
The film is a love story between two characters-Barbara and me. That’s what the film is about. Idea of how to project the first image or promos of the film comes from the director’s vision of what he should tell the audiences. That’s how promos are made. What’s this is not here, why that is not there is not half our concern or your concern. It’s just the director’s prerogative.
Barbara keeps saying that she saw all your films the moment she knew you will be working with her. Did you do the same?
I had watched a lot of her films. But when I saw her face for the first time on a laptop (my father called me and show her photo), it took me a second to decide she is the one to play Natasha (in Kites).
And what did you see in her (Barbara) to come to this decision?
We were looking for a face that had vulnerability with a lot of dignity.
With Barbara stepping into Hindi films, did you ever consider working in a Spanish film?
Of course I have. I have already told Barbara that if she has a role…a character, that I can be good at…then I am ready to give it a shot.
Do you speak fluent Spanish?
Well, Susanne (wife) and I try to speak Spanish. We also did a course to learn the language properly. We did pretty good and even reached the intermediate level. Then I had eight months of Guzarish(Sanjay Leela Bhansali film) and I went to a completely different world. But I understand the language perfectly.
Have you ever tried to fly kites?
(Laughs) We lived on the 13th floor and papa (Rakesh Roshan) used to teach me to fly kites. But flying kites was too hard for me because I was so small. I used to wonder why the kite is so light when you hold it in your hands, but becomes difficult to handle with a manjha. I remember that clearly…the kite always usedto fly out of my hands.

Sergio plays Barbara’s son in the film !

Sergio plays Barbara’s son in the film. The movie is about a single mother finding love, late in her life. It will showcase the mother-son bond between the two.
However, this isn’t the first time Barbara and Sergio will be facing the camera together. The two have previously done a commercial shoot for the global ‘Got Milk’ campaign.

Barbara Mori’s 12-year-old son Sergio will soon hit the big screen in a Mexican film, with his mommy.
The movie is being produced by Barbara’s production house.

After having shot her first Bollywood movie Kites, the actress now plans to concentrate on her regional films, rather than on Hollywood .
A source reveals that, Sergio is quite excited to face the camera.
“Sergio has been on the movie sets from quite an early age. He is looking forward to shooting with his mom.”

Barbara Mori was afraid to kiss Hrithik Why ?

Barbara Mori was afraid of the kissing scenes with Hrithik Roshan in Kites.

"When we were getting ready to shoot the kiss, I asked Hrithik why we are doing this. They don't show kissing in Indian films," she says with a chuckle.

The Uruguay-born and Mexico-raised TV and movie actress says, "We kiss in Mexican films all the time. Nobody makes a fuss over a kiss there. But I did not come across an Indian film with kissing scenes. Whenever I thought the man and woman are going to kiss, it would be like, cut, cut... suddenly the scene would change."


But Hrithik, she says, assured her that things are changing and the audiences are 'becoming broadminded.'

There are a lot of speculations about a bare-chest hugging scene from the English version of the film. But everyone connected with the movie says that there is nothing exploitative in both the versions, unless you object to a bikini-clad Mori.

The famed Hollywood director Brett Ratner who cut the remix version of Kites agreed with a journalist last week that its trailer looked sensuous and full of energy.

Barbara Mori is much impressed by India and Bollywood, of course, and says, “I’ve another film in India to be shot in January. I can’t talk about it right now, but I can tell you it’s a big film. I’d love to do many films in India.”
“I love all the Indian people. They’re so lovely. They make me feel so much at home. In Bollywood, Susanne wanted me to meet every friend of hers. So she took me to a lot of places. We went partying all night at Shah Rukh Khan’s home. I met many actors and actresses but I can’t remember their names. They are all so warm,” she adds.
Talking about ‘Kites’, Barbara said, “I’m not nervous. I’m excited. ‘Kites’ is my first film for this part of the world. I had never watched Bollywood films before ‘Kites’. But after I realised I’d be part of ‘Kites’ I really enjoyed watching some Bollywood films. I loved Hrithik’s film ‘Lakshya’.”
Hmm… the actress also has a lot to say about her co-star. She is all praises for him and says, “I feel there’s a very special chemistry with him. I’ve done a lot of movies with many other actors but nothing like Hrithik.”

Mexico's export to India, Barbara Mori continues to make waves. She is gaining a firm foothold in Bollywood as the leading lady of Kites and as the Roshan's new discovery. Recently, she was introduced to Shah Rukh Khan through her friends Hrithik and Susanne Roshan.

The lady is in town to promote Kites and is at present put up at the Oakwood apartment in Juhu.

SRK threw a surprise bash for her at his palatial abode Mannat. Barbara also met up with inner circle comprising of Arjun Rampal, Mehr Jessia, Chunky and Bhavna Pandey, Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor and Neelam Kothari! They all enjoyed the IPL finale together.



The lady was floored by the Bollywood badshah and his wife Gauri's hospitality. A source told us that she is now keen to work with Shah Rukh.

Latin model-turn-actress Barbara Mori, who’s making her debut in Bollywood with highly-anticipated film “Kites,” recently revealed in an interview that she will soon be coming back to India to shoot for another big Budget Hindi film she has been offered.

“I’ve another film in India to be shot in January. I can’t talk about it right now, but I can tell you it’s a big film. I’d love to do many films in India,” revealed Barbara excitedly.
Barbara, who’s currently in India for the promotion of “Kites,” said that she is enjoying her stay in the country because people are warm and welcoming.

“Not just Mumbai, I love all the Indian people. They’re so lovely. They make me feel so much at home,” said Barbara.

Recently, Shah Rukh Khan, who’s a good friend of Roshans, threw a surprise party for Barbara at his resident Mannat, where she met many other celebrities.
Reportedly, Barbara was so floored with SRK and his wife Gauri’s hospitality that she instantly expressed her desire to work with him if she gets a chance.
“In Bollywood Sussanne (Roshan) wanted me to meet every friend of hers. So she took me to a lot of places. We went partying all night at SRK’s home. I met many actors and actresses but I can’t remember their names. They are all so warm,” said the Latin beauty.
Barbara wants to explore India sans work
Barbara also revealed that she would love to explore places in India without having to worry about work and would most certainly be doing it whenever she will get a chance to do so.
“I am fascinated by India and its culture. I have been to Goa and loved it. I want to visit Delhi and the Taj Mahal. I haven’t had time to do so as so far I’ve been to India only for work. Now I need to come back for a vacation. Then I’ll visit all the places I want to,” said Barbara.
